Korkmaz Ergun, the CEO of Borsa İstanbul, elected as a member of the Board of Directors at the General Assembly of the World Federation of Exchanges held on 09/09/2021

Increasing and diversifying its financial products and services day by day, Borsa İstanbul accelerated its efforts for international investors as well. Borsa İstanbul CEO Korkmaz Ergun said, “We will strengthen our communication channels with international investors through new initiatives.”

Borsa İstanbul launched new initiatives for international investors. As a member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE)* since 1992, Borsa İstanbul has made a wide stride in strengthening its international visibility while having a say in the management of the Federation, with the election of CEO Korkmaz Ergun as a member of the Board of Directors at the General Assembly held on September 9, 2021. Other members of the Board of Directors are the exchanges from United States (3 Exchanges -Nasdaq, Chicago Commodity Exchange, Chicago Options Exchange), Singapore, Switzerland, Brazil, Bermuda, Hong Kong, India, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, South Korea, Japan, Germany, South Africa and China (Shanghai). Making further remarks on Borsa İstanbul’s membership in the Federation, Borsa İstanbul CEO indicated that their aim involves providing international investors with accurate information directly from a reliable source such as Borsa İstanbul, showing that they can get support from Borsa İstanbul when they need, and engaging in constructive long term dialogue to solve issues and to encourage further investments.

Ergun further stated: “Our membership in the Board of the World Federation of Exchanges along with seventeen leading exchanges from all continents, will serve as a bridge to contribute towards the solution of the global problems of the industry, connect with international counterparts and promote our international visibility. Our business units are now actively participating in all WFE working groups, working side by side with other exchanges, transferring the international experience to Borsa İstanbul and being part of the solution on global issues.”
