The Green Bonds and Sukuk Workshop held by Borsa İstanbul on Thursday, June 30, in cooperation with the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye, Borsa İstanbul, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Opening remarks were held by Ali Erdurmuş, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye, Barlas Akıncı, Director of Strategic Planning, Financial Reporting and Investor Relations, and Arvid Tuerkner, Managing Director of Türkiye for European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Four separate sessions were held during the workshop and views were exchanged about the contribution of the development of local sustainable debt securities instruments to the economy and the prospects and benefits of these instruments. Attended by panelists from Türkiye and abroad, the following were discussed during the sessions: What can be done to introduce green bonds and sukuks in Türkiye, the consideration of the instruments from the investor's perspective, and an overview of the current situation.
