The S&P / OIC COMCEC 50 Shariah Index (Index), which was created as a result of the joint work of the OIC Stock Exchange Forum with S&P, which aims to increase the recognition of capital markets and cooperation between the stock exchanges of the member countries of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), As of 15 June 2012, it has started to be calculated and published.

The index fills an important gap in Islamic capital markets. It is a successful example in terms of eliminating a significant deficiency in the Islamic indices market and increasing the awareness of the capital markets of the OIC member countries. Although there are many Islamic indexes in the world, none of them focus only on the companies of the OIC countries. Increasing demand for these paradoxes and Islamic finance oriented securities have been motivating reasons for the implementation of the Index.

The index is foreseen to serve the following purposes:

Raising awareness on OIC capital markets

Increasing cooperation among OIC exchanges

Providing reference criteria for OIC market performance

Creating alternative financial investment instruments for OIC markets S & P / OIC COMCEC 50 Shariah
