The Opening Bell at Borsa İstanbul will Ring for Gender Equality

Ahead of International Women’s Day and the 20th Anniversary of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, Borsa İstanbul, in cooperation with UN Women, UN Global Compact and Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, will host an opening bell ceremony on 6 March 2015 in support of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
During the first week of March, in the lead up to International Women’s Day and the 20th Anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action – the 1995 comprehensive global framework for gender equality and women’s empowerment – stock exchanges around the world will join UN Women, UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (SSE) in ringing their opening or closing bells to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. The series of global events by the name “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” will be hosted by Bombay Stock Exchange, Egyptian Exchange, Nasdaq, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Santiago Stock Exchange, Stockholm Stock Exchange and Warsaw Stock Exchange as well as Borsa İstanbul.
