Borsa İstanbul convenes potential Angel Investors in Istanbul.

Borsa İstanbul organized an Angel Investor Certificate Program jointly with Business Angels Association Angels of Turkey (TBAA) and the European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and Early Stage Market Players (EBAN) with the contributions of Türk Ekonomi Bankası.

At the Angel Investor Certificate Program held in Turkey for the first time, EBAN’s Honorary Chairman Paulo Andrez gave potential angel investors tips about generating the most profitable returns, from choosing the right investment project to company evaluation and contract process.

At the Program, senior officials from the Treasury Undersecretariat, Borsa İstanbul and TBAA delivered detailed presentations on angel investment in the world and Turkey.

An Angel Investor Certificate Program was held in Istanbul as a result of the cooperation of Borsa İstanbul, Business Angels Association Angels of Turkey (TBAA) and the European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and Early Stage Market Players (EBAN) with the contributions of Türk Ekonomi Bankası.

EBAN Honorary Chairman Paulo Andrez, TBAA Chairman Baybars Altuntaş, Treasury Undersecretariat Head of Financial Instruments and Markets Development Department Hakan Ertürk and Borsa İstanbul Private Market Manager Recep Bildik covered angel investment in detail in their presentations.

Borsa İstanbul Listing and Private Market Group Manager Sertaç Fuad Karaağaoğlu addressed potential angel investors in the opening of the two-day certificate program, saying, “Private Market has reached 223 members in five months following its launch, and is working to improve the investor base in Turkey. Turkey offers the best tax advantages for angel investors, and we aim to make angel investment better known in Turkey and ensure that more investors make use of these incentives and invest in new enterprises. Within this framework, we invited EBAN Honorary Chairman Paulo Andrez and organized the first EBAN angel investor certificate program in Turkey for the first time. Treasury Undersecretariat officials will speak about the applications in Turkey, and we will continue with our efforts to make angel investment more widespread and active in Turkey, and finally, to add to entrepreneurs’ access to finance”.

During the two-day training, European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and Early Stage Market Players (EBAN) Honorary Chairman Paulo Andrez talked about the angel investment process. Andrez shared with the audience the strategies for realizing the most profitable returns on angel investments, touching upon the company valuations, managing the relations with entrepreneurs and the contract process, giving examples from overseas practices. Emphasizing that angel investment creates business and employment in all countries, Andez added, “This training program that EBAN implements worldwide aims to create certified angel investors of global standards that are capable of making right investment decisions. I believe that with this training offered in Turkey for the first time, the angel investment ecosystem in Turkey takes a significant step forward”.

Business Angels Association Angels of Turkey (TBAA) Chairman Baybars Altuntaş delivered a speech entitled “The Status of Angel Investment in Turkey and the World, and a Vision for the Next Decade”, saying,

“As Business Angels Association Angels of Turkey, we emphasize informing angel investors for improving the angel investment sector. Therefore, we attach great importance to this training at EBAN standards realized in Turkey for the first time. I believe that the nominees that complete this program successfully will get results much faster”.

Treasury Undersecretariat Head of Financial Instruments and Markets Development Department Hakan Ertürk delivered a speech entitled “How to become an Accredited Angel Investor in Turkey” and Borsa İstanbul Private Market Manager Recep Bildik delivered a speech entitled “Liquidity and Investment Advantages offered by the Private Market”.

At the EBAN Angel Investment Certificate Program, numerous topics including internationally accepted criteria for the right investment and company evaluations, the status of angel investors in Turkey and the world, expectations for the next decade, early stage investments in Turkey, criteria for accredited angel investors and Borsa İstanbul Private Market were covered.
