Borsa İstanbul organized the first of Futures and Options Market Seminar Series on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Borsa İstanbul Conference Hall. The seminar, titled “Applications of Derivatives Markets and Options Strategies” kicked off with a speech by Borsa İstanbul Executive Vice President Çetin Ali Dönmez.

Çetin Ali Dönmez: “The purpose of these trainings is to increase investor awareness and to usher in new investors to our market.”

“When you compare the size of our derivatives market to the strength and size of our economy, we are not at the stage we should be. In order to become more liquid, the current investor base must expand and during this expansion, investors need to act with more awareness,” said Çetin Ali Dönmez; “Rather than speculative purposes, we want the products traded on the Futures & Options Market to be used for hedging purposes and product diversification in portfolio management.  With this goal in mind, I am honored to present the first program aimed at promoting awareness and encouraging new investors since the merger of Turkish Derivatives Exchange (TURKDEX) and Borsa İstanbul Futures & Options Market (VİOP) on August 5, 2013. The most important support in reaching out to our investors comes from the staff of banks and brokerage houses. We are planning to continue to organize such trainings for them especially, and benefit from the experience of valued speakers such as Mr. James Prichard. I would like to point out that your suggestions for improving our Market, particularly regarding the content and trainers for such seminars will be highly considered. I do hope that this seminar proves beneficial for us all”, he added.

Following the key note speech, the seminar began with James Prichard’s interactive presentation, followed by a Q&A session.
