Women to Ring the Bell on March 8
On the occasion of the Women's Day, the trading session will start with the bell ringing ceremony with the participation of Independent Woman Directors, a joint initiative of Sabancı University and Egon Zehnder International.
Independent Woman Directors project is aimed at facilitating it for companies to find female board members and eliminating the hurdles for female directors. The project also represents the Global Board Ready Women, an initiative of 100 leading universities, in Turkey. The database including Turkish female directors, created as part of the project carried out with Financial Times will be made available for examination by the chairmen of European companies, on March 8 for a period of two months. On the same day, BoardEx, a members-only database, will be opened for woman directors.
İMKB is among the first signatories of the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative and by inviting Independent Woman Directors to ring the opening bell on the Women's Day, İMKB once again underlines the importance of women's taking part in decision-making mechanisms in terms of sustainable finance and sustainable development.
Participants in the ceremony included İMKB Board member Cavidan Konuralp, Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum Director and Independent Woman Directors Project Director Melsa Ararat, Egon Zehnder International İstanbul Office Executive Partner Murat Yeşildere, Sabancı University Administrative Sciences Faculty Dean Nakiye Boyacıgiller, Independent Woman Directors Project Counseling Board Co-Chairs Gülden Türktan and Vahap Munyar as well as the representatives of the Turkish Industry and Business Association, Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey, Brokers' Association, and Capital Markets Board of Turkey.
