“Chimera S&P Turkey Shariah” ETF was launched in Abu Dhabi to invest in companies listed on Borsa İstanbul. The fund listed on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange on August 9, 2022.

Within the scope of relations and mutual visits with the United Arab Emirates under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the initiatives between Borsa İstanbul and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange first started with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the stock exchanges of the two countries during the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Türkiye on November 24, 2021.

In line with this memorandum of understanding (MoU), considering the areas where the two Exchanges can work together, they first decided to cooperate in the field of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange's technological transformation. The initiatives between the two Exchanges were then transformed into a commercial agreement during the visit of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to the United Arab Emirates on February 14, 2022. Within the framework of this commercial agreement, Borsa İstanbul has started providing technical consultancy services as well as installation and integration of systems developed for Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, data transfer, application and acceptance tests, knowledge and experience transfer and training activities. As such, Borsa İstanbul made its first export in the field of information technologies.

Another area of cooperation pursuant to the signed agreement is to expand the potential investors of the two Exchanges. In this context, launched to invest in stocks listed on Borsa İstanbul, Chimera S&P Turkey Shariah fund, which we contributed significantly for its launch, listed on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange on August 9, 2022. An official Bell Ringing Ceremony on the occasion of the listing of the fund launched on August 9, 2022, at Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

Delivering his remarks, Korkmaz Ergun, the CEO of Borsa İstanbul, stated the following: “We are more than glad that Chimera S&P Turkey Shariah ETF, which is launched with our support to invest in stocks listed on Borsa İstanbul as part of our cooperation, is listed on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange today. I firmly believe that the total size of the fund will reach higher amounts in time with the growing interest and demand of Abu Dhabi investors and I hope that it will produce high yields for its investors.”
