British Chamber of Commerce Turkey Representation Office paid a visit to Borsa İstanbul on October 14, 2015 with twenty businessmen from the British Coventry and Warwickshire Chambers of Commerce. The delegation watched the opening bell ceremony organized on the occasion of market making by Finansinvest and Finans Energy on Electricity Futures contracts which will start trading on Borsa İstanbul Derivatives Market (VIOP). The delegation visited the Trading Floor and received information from Borsa İstanbul Private Market officials about the Turkish business world and investment opportunities.
The delegation was able to see the work environment and activities of Borsa İstanbul, which brings together savers with issuers of a wide range, from start-up companies to publicly traded ones, and therefore supporting the development of the private sector. British businessmen expressed that they were impressed by the visit, adding that the Private Market platform offers a good opportunity for companies seeking business partners or planning on investments.
British Chamber of Commerce Turkey Representation Office offers consultancy services for companies operating in the UK and Turkey. The Chamber officials said that they brought together more than 50 British companies with the Turkish business world, and that they hope to increase this number by the end of the year. The officials also expressed that British businesspersons found the opportunities in Turkey attractive, and think the Turkish companies’ business culture and ethics are similar to that of their own. They added that uniting the local market knowledge and practical strength of the Turkish companies with the technology, design and R&D capacity of British companies, brings about successful results.
