
Borsa İstanbul VIOP participated in the FOW Trading Amsterdam 2015 event organized as part of the Futures & Options World (FOW) in Amsterdam, Holland, as sponsor. The event was participated by more than 250 banks, brokers, fund managers, traders and CTAs operating in Holland, discussing the items on the agenda of derivative markets.
Tom O`Brien from the Moscow Stock Exchange, Dean Noble from CME Group, Natasha Xie from JunHe Law Office, and Borsa İstanbul Derivatives Market Group Manager Muammer Çakır participated in the panel entitled “Emerging Markets and Opportunities”, moderated by OIC Options Industry Council Director of European Marketing and Education Gary Delany. Çakır said that the Turkish economy and capital markets are very attractive for investment with a size of nearly US$ 1 trillion, export-oriented economy and dynamic companies, indicating also that the share of foreign investors in VIOP traded value increased from 15% to 26%, targeting the range of 40-50% in the near future. Çakır emphasized that the efforts to renew the exchange infrastructure with NASDAQ technology are in progress, and as Takasbank became the counter-party in VIOP in 2014, VIOP will rank among the top markets internationally.
Following the Conference, visits were paid to foreign investment institutions operating in Amsterdam and Rotterdam that either currently trade on VIOP or looking to operate in VIOP.
